Attorney Patricia Van Haren’s Background
Focusing in Family Law Probate Law Attorney Patricia C. Van Haren has been a practicing attorney since May of 2011. Prior to attending law school, Patricia was a family law paralegal for approximately 20 years. In that time, she acted as a Paralegal for several attorneys. For several years before becoming an attorney, she assisted couples through uncontested divorces as a paralegal and document preparation assistant. After establishing her own practice, she used all her skills and knowledge to develop her family law practice.
Ms. Van Haren raised her three children as a single mother while working and attending law school at nights and on weekends. After graduating law school, Ms. Van Haren established her first office and opened her doors as a sole practitioner. The focus of her practice is to assist families in their life transitions and growth. Our office prides itself on being able to establish personal connections with our clients. When working at law firms, Ms. Van Haren realized that very often the attorney knew little about the client or the family that they were working with. Ms. Van Haren wanted to practice differently. She understands that the key to be a trusted counselor and adviser and the key to achieving the client’s objectives is to know the client on a personal level.
Ms. Van Haren primarily focuses on family law matters by representing a party in one of the following capacities: full scope, limited scope, collaborative divorce, divorce negotiation mediation or legal consulting. She provides a wide spectrum of legal representations from pre-nuptials, post-nuptials, adoptions, paternity actions, contested and uncontested divorces (military and civilian), legal separations, child custody, child visitation, child support, spousal support, financial and property division, post judgment issues, contempt, restraining orders and family law litigation. She also provides legal representation for matters in probate court such as guardianships and conservatorships. Ms. Van Haren has recently authored the book How to File and Survive a Divorce in California. This book is intended to explain important aspects of the Divorce Process in a way that the public can understand. Ms. Van Haren has seen many clients come into her office in fear about the future and about the process in general and she wanted to be able to communicate that there is a way through. She has come in on matters that poor choices in the beginning of a Divorce or lack of counsel have made more difficult and costly had the clients been informed.
